Short and sad diary. In my town, a 9 year old boy was killed and others injured By a tourist from New York.
Why I bring this up is because in our little fishing village, at this time of year there are sharks on wheels From Away looking for a place to park. Endless trolling for a place to park, and a rather steeply graded hill is involved in coming down into Port.
I am alright, and so is my car (that wasn't one damaged in the accident) but I had just left Port Clyde for The Rock soon before this accident occurred.
I will plead with tourists: we're glad you're here, but please, when you get to the ass end of a peninsula in Maine, and find there is nowhere to park, please, please, move on. I am convinced that this fatal accident was brought about by someone from New York who just had to find a place to park, though we don't know for sure yet. But boy, do they troll Port Clyde for a space, always from away, and always with an underlying bit of aggression--which I understand, because even though I live here, I have to fight for parking too.
Your tourism is not worth taking a life.
